General description The vibration exciter consists of the following main components: - magnetic system - vibration system - guide system - monitoring system - cooling system The magnetic system consists of the magnetic core, the magnetic housing, the disk and the polar ring.
These parts are screwed together. The field coil is placed between the magnetic housing and the magnetic core. The exciter coil shall be mounted in a solid way in order to avoid an unintentional displacement. The vibration system of the vibration exciter consists of the vibrating coil and the head. The vibrating coil is wound in a self-supporting way and glued to the head.
The vibration system moves in axial direction within the air gap between the disk and the ring of the magnetic system. This system has been optimised with regard to its stiffness and its weight. Owing to the high stiffness of the vibration system, it can be guaranteed that the force generated in the coil is available on the clamping surface. The lowering of the vibration system can be compensated by a TMC Controller. The zero position of the vibration system is adjusted automatically.
The guide system adjusts the vibrating coil, displaces the vibration system exactly in axial direction and generates a resetting moment. The vibration system is guided at two points. The upper guide system consists of 3 pulleys made of polypropylene with double support and the lower guide system consists of 1 ball thrust bearing. The kind of bearing enables an exact guidance in axial direction and avoids rotary motions of the vibration system.
The resetting moment of the vibration system is achieved by means of 3 rubber spring elements. An appropriate construction and dimensioning of the spring elements realises the required amplitude and a low distortion of the signal amplitude. The monitoring systems of the vibration exciter TIRAvib S 54216/LS-130 identify dangerous operating condition and avoid damages to the vibration exciter. The following parameters are monitored: - temperature of exciter coil - temperature of magnetic system - functions of the air-cooling fan - air rate of the vibration exciter - deflection of the vibration system When exceeding the maximum values of a parameter, the power amplifier is switched off. The air-cooling fan is designed for avoiding an elevated temperature of the vibrating coil and the exciter field coil.
The external air-cooling fan sucks the ambient air via filter mats placed in the upper part of the vibration exciter. One part of the cooling air is led through the air gap and cools the vibration coil, the other part flows through the four holes in the magnetic ring past the exciter coil. The flow rate at the vibrating coil is dimensioned so that no interference signal can appear. A demagnetizing coil is optionally placed in the upper hood of the vibration exciter in order to reduce the interference field on the clamping surface.
